Camera quality Macbook 2020

I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro 2020. My wife has a MacBook Air 2017. I am highly surprised at how much worse the webcam quality is on my computer. I get a quite grainy picture on the Macbook Pro 2020 whereas the Macbook Air 2017 has a really good and clear picture.

I've now read plenty of similar complaints regarding 2019 and 2020 models.

I've spent a lot of money on my computer and these days I am spending half of my days on videoconferences. It's amazing that a $1K+ computer has such a bad quality camera and that Apple is not doing anything about this.

My questions are:

1. What are people doing, software-wise, to get fix this?
2. Why isn't apple doing anything about this?
