Swiping between apps forces zoomed-in view in safari/ duckduckgo/ chrome/ etc.

On iPad Pro 11 inch 2020, I swipe between apps with 4 fingers. Whenever I do this, the browser apps zoom in as if it were a 2 finger double tap zoom. Every time I undo this zoom in, leave the app and come back it is zoomed in again. It is very annoying to zoom out every time I come back to the app.

Other apps do not zoom in, and if I restart the iPad and swipe between apps by using one finger swipe at the bottom of the screen, the zoom in does not happen so far, but I am used to the 4-finger swipe.

This has not happened before that I have noticed, only after the update.

Hi gezparre,

We appreciate you getting back to us with that information!

There are two ways you can swipe between apps as shown here: Switch between apps on iPad. If you try the method below, does the same thing happen? This test would help in narrowing things down:

“Swipe left or right with one finger along the bottom edge of the screen. (On an iPad with a Home button, perform this gesture with a slight arc.)”

Keep us posted on how that specific gesture works. Best wishes.

Hi gezparre,

Thanks for posting! As we understand it, you're finding that your app zooms in when you swipe between apps on your iPad. We'd like to see if we can help!

When you say this happens with a browser, which browser is it specifically? Does it happen with multiple browser apps?

Also, which exact iPadOS version are you using?

Also, under Settings > Accessibility > Zoom, is that turned on? Does it make a difference if you turn it off and test again?

Let us know! Cheers.

Hi Ryane77,

The problem happens with multiple browser apps. The browsers I've had this happen in are Safari, Chrome, and Duckduckgo. I've used them on their own and at the samd time; uninstalled and installed again, yet the zoom in when I swipe between apps continues, if I do so with 4 fingers. I'm trying Safari as my only browser and the problem persists.

It is iPadOS 14.2 on the iPad Pro (11-inch) (2nd Generation).

Accessibility zoom is turned off. There is no difference when turned on, the apps still zoom in with a 4 finger swipe.

Swiping between apps forces zoomed-in view in safari/ duckduckgo/ chrome/ etc.
