Iphone 12 Pro Max Keeps Losing Wifi Signal

Hi, had my iPhone for just over a week and annoyingly everyday it keeps losing Wi-Fi signal at random points during the day. Only solution I have found so far is to switch Wi-Fi off in settings and switch it back on. Have reset router several times too. The problem is getting really annoying as I switched from Android after 15 years and have never had this issue with my previous Samsung 10 or Huawei P30 Pro and other android based phones. Anybody found a solution or is it a case of sending the phone back and going back to an android based phone?

I switched off wifi assist it’s in the setting/ cellular scroll all the way to the bottom

it appears to have stopped it from happening

apple put this feature in to switch to a cellar connection if a wifi signal is weak.

I was right in front of the router and it was switching so I just turned it off

Soooooooooooooooo, disappointing. It's a great phone totally ruined by Wi-Fi issues. My Wi-fi just will not connect after I wake it up. I have to toggle Wi-Fi off then back on to get it to work. Sometimes several times!

This is the second time in a row that I have felt let down by Apple. The first time it was with the awful camera on the 11 pro max. Now it's with the 12 pro max and erratic Wi-Fi.

I'm seriously weighing up my options. Chance a replacement with exactly the same problems? or sell it and go back to something before the 11 pro max.

I've owned iPhones since the 5s, the last two years feel like we're being taken for granted. It doesn't feel like a polished article anymore. Perhaps I'm just p*ssed off with it all! My iPad, my wife's XR and iPad pro work flawlessly with Wi-Fi. It's deffo a 12 pro max issue.

I've been in contact with support a couple of times but have given up now because they tell you the same old rubbish, 'it's your router' it's your settings' 'try a restore' etc etc, bla bla bla - and if they did offer a replacement and it's the same, I have to go through the same routine again! I don't want that. I just want a phone that I paid £1100 for, to work.

That's not asking too much. Is it? Apple?

It may be absolutely nothing to do with any of these issues. I have tried absolutely every possible suggestion re my 12 pro max failing to reconnect to my wi-fi after waking the phone up - but, yesterday, I was messing about with my router settings and and I don't know why, I thought of disabling the 2.4ghz to see if the phone stay connected, and then enable the 2.4ghz and disable the 5ghz and again, see if there was any difference.

Conclusion, and again, I have absolutely no idea if this is anything to do with any of these wi-fi issues and the 12 pro max, but I have disabled my 5ghz on the router and ensured my phone is connected to the 2.4ghz wi-fi. I haven't had a drop-out or reconnection after sleep issues in three days! The first time in owning this phone for over 2 months that has happened.

I'm now a lot more happier than I was a few days ago!

To clarify.....................

If you have a dual band router, i,e 2.4 & 5GHz, then if you disable the 5ghz on the router and the phone will pick-up, connect, and stay connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band without any dropping connection or failing to connect after waking phone up from idle/sleep problems.

My iPhone 12 pro max hasn't dropped a connection or failed to reconnect to my Wi-Fi for over a week since doing this. The iPhone 12 clearly has a 5GHz problem. Let's hope ios 14.5 fixes in what is clearly a fundamental part of user requirements.

The silence from Apple is deafening!

I know dozens of ip12 users with the same problem - all of them have submitted reports to Apple. I'm not even sure we're going to see a fix in ios 14.5!

Maybe if they just stay quiet and hope we all go away, it'll all blow over!

I won't be renewing in September if they don't roll out a fix for this.

It's a disgrace. I rely on Wi-Fi because of the rural area I live in. I never had a problem with my 11 pro max. I'm seriously regretting the upgrade to the 12 pro max.

I wonder if Apple are ignoring the problem in the hope we just go away! If so, I will have to question my allegiance to Apple when upgrading in September.

it's not as though I can sell my dodgy 12 pro max on a well known auction site for fear of it being returned for crap Wi-Fi.

I've had enough. Sold my new iphone 12 pro max and bought the 11 pro which has absolutely no Wi-Fi issues.

The silence from Cupertino on this issue is deafening. Perhaps they're hoping we just go away and spend another £1100 when the iphone 13's come out in September.
