Iphone 12 Pro Max Keeps Losing Wifi Signal

Hi, had my iPhone for just over a week and annoyingly everyday it keeps losing Wi-Fi signal at random points during the day. Only solution I have found so far is to switch Wi-Fi off in settings and switch it back on. Have reset router several times too. The problem is getting really annoying as I switched from Android after 15 years and have never had this issue with my previous Samsung 10 or Huawei P30 Pro and other android based phones. Anybody found a solution or is it a case of sending the phone back and going back to an android based phone?

I switched off wifi assist it’s in the setting/ cellular scroll all the way to the bottom

it appears to have stopped it from happening

apple put this feature in to switch to a cellar connection if a wifi signal is weak.

I was right in front of the router and it was switching so I just turned it off

I returned my 12PM.

Dropping Wi-Fi connection every 30 minutes or so. This was the second time I returned my 12pm for the same reason.

Funnily enough, my back up phone (IP11) works flawlessly with my Wi-Fi.

I WON'T be purchasing a new iPhone this coming September. I have absolutely no confidence that Apple are even interested in fixing this problem, which, for many new iPhone 12 PM users is unbearably frustrating. It really feels like Apple have their fingers in their ears, going 'bla bla bla, We can't hear you - well, we can, but fixing it would cost us millions, so we're just ignoring y'all - please spend you hard earned wonga this coming September so we can make more billions.

Not that I'm sceptical or anything! :-)

Im having the same problem as well. My note 10 used to work flawlessly. I switched from android to iPhone after 11 years. There are so many bugs that I’m regretting the switch so much. Why isn’t Apple recognizing this as an issue? There are over 350 people affected by this. Will they start noticing this only if a big media partner takes about it? I’m going to start messaging the tech you tubers about this. Only if this goes big will apple even acknowledge it.

While I agree with everyone about the issue being still present, the following has helped me to reduce significantly the amount of time it happens:

  • Separate the bands of your Wi-Fi network in two separate networks 2.4 and 5 GHz and give to each network a different name and password.
  • Do not join the 2.4ghz network or forget the network if you joined it previously
  • Only join the 5ghz Wi-Fi network.

This reduced for me the amount of time I have to switch the Wi-Fi off/on on my iPhone 12 Pro.

I have noticed that iMessage still seems to work fine while this issue is happening. Messages can get through, while any other app does not have connectivity.

One other thing is that my iPhone sits next to an older AM/FM radio alarm clock at night and I get this issue primarily in the morning when I pick it up, I wonder if there's some kind of interference happening that throws the WiFi radio off on the iPhone? I do occasionally hear radio frequency noises when I get a text message like in the early days of cell phones on AT&T.

To be honest I doubt it might be the FM radio. I don’t have one in my bedroom and for me the issue used to happen in different rooms in my house and in none of them I have a radio.

What’s your Wi-Fi set up? About a week ago I “forgot” my 2.5Ghz network and only connected to the 5Ghz (as per my suggestion above) and since then I didn’t have any issue so far.

I agree. When the 12 pro max is in idle/sleep state, the Wi-Fi re-connectivety to the (5GHz) network is where the problem lies - not to the re-connectivety to the 2.4GHz.

Hopefully a fix coming soon.

Exactly what I had to do until I found out it was a 5GHz issue. Disable your 5Ghz on the router. Just leave the phone connected to your 2GHz network. It'll work a treat.
