Iphone 12 Pro Max Keeps Losing Wifi Signal

Hi, had my iPhone for just over a week and annoyingly everyday it keeps losing Wi-Fi signal at random points during the day. Only solution I have found so far is to switch Wi-Fi off in settings and switch it back on. Have reset router several times too. The problem is getting really annoying as I switched from Android after 15 years and have never had this issue with my previous Samsung 10 or Huawei P30 Pro and other android based phones. Anybody found a solution or is it a case of sending the phone back and going back to an android based phone?

I switched off wifi assist it’s in the setting/ cellular scroll all the way to the bottom

it appears to have stopped it from happening

apple put this feature in to switch to a cellar connection if a wifi signal is weak.

I was right in front of the router and it was switching so I just turned it off

I have experienced the same problem and have tried the solutions recommend. None made the problem better but none completely eliminated the dropping.

Interesting though....I changed over to my backup Android phone and used my iPhone 12 as just an internet browser. With cellular turned off the iPhone has never once dropped WiFi. There must be a conflict between the two radios ???

After several hours with Apple phone support and every method of troubleshooting mentioned in this thread I was sent to the Apple Store Genius Bar for further testing. They did nothing other than run diagnostics and reset the phone to factory settings. This still HAS NOT repaired the phone. The data signal is lost at random and is not only affecting data, but also calls. My phone is less than 30 days old and covered by the full protection plan and Apple refuses to replace the faulty device or acknowledge the problem. They literally told me to my face that I am stuck with the phone. DO NOT BUY ANY iPhone 12 model unless you want to be stuck with a $700+ brick. I am appalled by Apple as a 15 year user of iPhone and this is how they treat loyal customers. Garbage.

Same here. Bought iPhone 12 new seven months ago running iOs 14.4, continually drops Wifi signal, have to manually select the wifi signal to reconnect. Over the past 7 months have tried phone reset, iOs restore, Network reset, no joy.

This happens on EVERY wifi signal I have connected with over past 7 months up and down Central Oregon, (i.e. it's not my router). My iPhone 11 max and previous variants never did this.

Also of note, if Cel signal gets down to 1 bar, it will drop cel service altogether and NOT reconnect on its own, have to force it via selecting Airplane mode then airplane mode off again. Being also doing this also since new, all of the tricks used above including switching off 5g, etc, still no joy here too. Think these similar issues may be related?

hi, I am reposting this from a poster called runthisshit. I did this and it worked for me.

check it out below.

UPDATE - oddly enough, the support agent I’ve been working with came with a suggestion.

next time I was having the issue try loading 17.142.160.59 with safari, I did this whilst screen recording and to my amazement everything began to load!

I've sent this across to Apple immediately in hope it gives them the evidence they need to rectify the issue.

Was going to wait a full week to update but I am on day 5 of using the 13 Pro Max + iOS 15 full time and am happy (and cautious not to jinx) to report I have not experienced this issue at all!

I’m convinced the iPhone 12 lineup had some crappy components because my WiFi and Bluetooth connections are much stronger, quicker and not glitchy at all compared to several iPhone 12 phones I had over the past year.

Whether it was iOS 14 or the iPhone 12 hardware remains to be seen. I guess more users will have to report if they still get the issue after upgrading to iOS 15.

I’ve just had my iphone12 pro replaced with a new one after 5 months of continual issues. They did a diagnostic on it and found that yes I was correct it won’t connect to the internet, also found the gps was not working.

one week later I’ve had a few issues again! But not as bad - just with some apps.

I’ve had every iPhone since 4 and never any problems but this is driving me nuts and I think apple need to put a proper fix out there for us or give us a refund or new 13 phone.

I’ve tried all the fixes.

Agreed! Same behavior with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Moreover, if it was an issue with older routers, then Apple has made an assumption that all routers have to be updated to newer technology in for the iPhone to work as advertised.

And think about travel. What happens when you take your new iPhone 12/13 out of the country; somewhere that doesn’t have access to the same new technology as the US.

is my new iPhone now confined to the US and only locations with the newest WIFi router technology. When was the last time your local Starbucks replaced their WiFi router? Probably never.

This argument that it’s a router issue is either false/fake or a complete miss on design specs by Apple. My money is on the first option.

Wifi drops consistently when switching networks (wifi1 to wifi2, WiFi to cellular or cellular to wifi) and often then just randomly. Working at home, my WiFi connection will drop 5-7 times per day while on the same WiFi network the whole time.

Just under a month of use of my iPhone 12 Pro Max and sadly I have to report the fix I thought I had found did not last. Still getting random drop outs and having to switch wi-fi on and off. Really think this is an issue that Apple are typically ignoring as not many of us actually returning the phone for refund etc. to force them to listen that they have potentially put out a phone with an inherent problem that needs an urgent fix! Hope to hear from Apple soon that they have come up with a fix for the UK wi-fi market??
