iPhone 12 Pro Max Wifi Speed vs iMac wifi speed

Rest assured, your iPhone supports the latest and fastest Wi-Fi speeds, so what you're noticing is not typical when connected to a fast Wi-Fi network. Though your iMac is connecting much faster speeds, have you had an opportunity to join your iPhone to different Wi-Fi networks to verify if the speeds are faster? This is a great way to isolate the issue to your iPhone itself, or the Wi-Fi network.

If you haven't already done so, we can recommend restarting your iPhone, and also your router. If the root cause is a network issue affecting only your iPhone, restarting both devices can quickly refresh their connection and may resolve any routing miscommunication.

So that we're on the same page, what's the version of iOS installed on your device? This can be found under Settings > General > About. If it's not updated to iOS 14.2.1, we can recommend backing up your data and updating using the steps in this guide:

I am having the same issue as well. It was happening before I updated to 14.4 and is still happening with my iPhone 12 Pro and 12. This is not an issue on the iPhone 11 I still have. Also not an issue on my iPad Pro or MacBook Pro either. It seems like the iPhone is throttling my speeds while on wifi but only the download. My upload is twice what the download is and in line with my other devices as well

I have a similar problem, as you only with the iPhone 12 Pro (but not the max).

I have a Linksys wifi 6 Mesh Wifi with 3 nodes covering the large apartment.

My 2019 iMac and 2020 MBP report speed of 1300 Mbps

My iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone SE (v2) report speeds of 675 - 700 Mbps

My iPad Pro (v3) reports speeds of 690 Mbps

and my iPhone 12 Pro reports a maximum speed of 402 Mbps

The router confirms all devices are connected at 5Ghz to the same router, each device switched on tested and switched off, so no interference from the other devices. Given the iPhone 12 Pro is the top of the iPhone product line, it's so-called WiFi 6 performance seems pretty poor.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and am having the exact same issue. Im getting around 9-15 MBps on my iPhone and 500-600 MBps on an iPad, MBP and Windows laptop. Has anyone found a solution to this yet?

Thanks so much for clarifying. Depending on distance and interference from other wireless devices, it may be expected to see differences in Wi-Fi performance between different devices. We recommend minimizing as many potential sources of interference as possible. For example, distance, walls, objects, other wireless devices, and even a protective case on your iPhone can affect the wireless signal. If you've got any protective case, we recommend removing it to test further.

We can also recommend powering off your iMac and other nearby devices when testing your iPhone, to see if they may be interfering with the signal to your iPhone.
