Mac will not accept my icloud password and itunes

I have attempted to log in to my icloud several times. I enter my password and I get the verification code sent to my phone but my macbook continues to ask for the password and not the verification code. The same thing happens with itunes.

The message is either that my password is incorrect (when I tested that it is correct !) or that I should enter a verification code, that I do receive in my others trusted devices, but there is no prompt to put this code in the devise at hand. Mac not accepting correct Apple ID password I am trying to log into itunes on my Mac. A pop-up comes up asking for my apple ID login. Each time I enter my (correct) password, it just asks again/doesn't accept the log in credentials. My iphone works just fine with my apple ID. I went to appleid.apple.com and tried to reset my password and log on there. It sent a verification code to my phone, I typed that in on the website, and again I can log in there too. I typed in the new password on the popup for itunes, but it still won't accept my login.

correct apple ID password refused on mac I enter my apple ID and password and get a notification on my phone that someone is trying to login, I consent and get a verification code but neither iTunes nor the app store accept that the password is correct. Despite the fact that I have just used that very same password to log into iCloud in preferences without issue. I've even resorted to changing my password to no avail. I'm currently on Yosemite (for some reason it install after a fusion drive rebuild) and wanted to download Big Sur from the App Store when I discovered this issue. Any suggestions are most welcome.

Check if you aren't asked for your mac login password instead of your icloudID password
