Upgraded from 6s Plus to 12 Pro Max. Backed up old phone prior to erasing content & packaging up old phone for return per instructions. Then activated new phone. The only information that didn’t restore are the text messages. Is there a fix? Thank you

The backup is from iCloud or iTunes? If iCloud, make sure that iCloud sync for messages is enabled and leave it on Wi-Fi and charging overnight.
Thank you Carl for your prompt reply. The old phone was backed up to iCloud last night. I no longer have the old phone as it had to be returned. Where do I find iCloud sync for messages on my new iPhone 12?
