Network connection drops (but only during video calls with Zoom/Teams/Skype etc.)

When I join a meeting using Zoom/Teams my network connection *sometimes* goes down, usually close five minutes into the call. High network usage in other situations is fine (watching youtube, netflix, etc).

This happens *both* when using WiFi and with an ethernet cable. On WiFi, turning WiFi off then on again is sufficient to re-establish connection, but, when using ethernet, a reboot is required.

How should I go about trying to debug this? What logs/other sources of information should I be looking at? The only thing that works is rebooting the macbook.

It seems to me that this is not a hardware issues (as it affect both WiFi and ethernet) nor is it an application issue (as it seems to apply to all video conferencing software that I use).

This is worrisome for me since I am remotely teaching and cannot rely on the computer to do so!

Help please!
