Activating Showtime app with Apple Plus subscription.

I recently added Showtime to my Apple TV Plus subscription. This was actually a new bundle that also includes CBS All Access. I was able to get the CBS All Access app to work independently of the Apple TV layout, the apps basically could link the accounts and CBS All Access works well on its own. Now, the issue I have is with Showtime. I can't do the same thing, or at least I'm struggling to figure out how. When using the Showtime app, it asks me to active using a "Service Provider" and Apple or Apple TV Plus are not an option. The Showtime app doesn't work in the same fashion as the CBS app where it immediately recognized the subscription, so I am unable to log in or get this app to work without a different registration altogether. I have also tried Showtime Anywhere app, with similar disappointing results. The apps themselves offer a better browsing experience than Apple Plus does, so I would really appreciate the ability to use those directly through this subscription. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Apple TV Plus is Apple's streaming service. Apple TV Channels are separate and would be what one would use to subscribe to other services that are hosted by Apple in the TV app. If you subscribed there then you can only view those subscriptions within that TV app, it will not work directly with those provider's apps (as those are considered separate subscriptions).

Upon further investigation it seems that there is an exclusive partnership in the US that allows Apple TV Channel subscribers of CBS to link directly with the CBS app so they can have access to both. It doesn't look like that would be the case for Showtime so you would need to reach out to both of them to inquire about it. Sorry about the confusion.

Then that means you also have a subscription directly with CBS. Any service subscribed through the TV app is only able to be viewed there. This is not based on opinion, but rather is a fact of how it works.

When using the showtime app you will need a direct subscription with their service or authentication from a cable subscription/live streaming provider.
