Mac Mini 2020 Bluetooth Issues

My apple bluetooth keyboard does not properly reconnect to the mini when the mini is coming out of sleep mode. It recognizes the keyboard (shows as connected on bluetooth menu) but it is really slow and doesn’t pickup all keystrokes. If I turn keyboard off and turn it back on, then it works fine until next time it goes to sleep. Pretty annoying. Anyone else experiencing this and/or any suggestions?
