Wi-fi is extremely slow since upgrading to iOS 12.4.9

I upgraded to the latest iOS for my device last week, and now all apps that use the Internet are extremely slow including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Safari, even the App Store. In some cases the connection is so unreliable, it will even timeout.

I already tried the usual troubleshooting steps (turn off iPad, reboot router, reset network settings, move closer to router, etc.) Nothing has helped.

It's worth noting that my two Dell laptops with Windows 10 have no issues whatsoever accessing the Internet.

Two Thoughts:

A. Clear Temporary Internet Files:

If Safari is slow, try clearing out your Temporary Internet Files: History, Cache, and Cookies

Go Here: Clear your Safari browser history and set up content blockers on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

B. Perhaps this is a Faulty Device?:

If the screen does not power on, then perhaps this is a faulty device. Do you have this covered under warranty? You have a one-year, out-of-the-box, limited warranty on this. So, contact Apple Support, seeing if they will service this.

Contacting Apple Support:

Why the Wait:

Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due do lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

A. Why would temporary Internet files for Safari effect Neflix or the App Store?

B. Why would the device be faulty if it worked perfectly fine for years before the iOS update?

  • You mentioned nothing of it being “fine for years
  • If you’ve had it for years, then that would not apply (which is why I used the word “Perhaps”)
