LG 32UL950 Display

I just purchased this monitor LG32UL950 and the only way I can get my Mac(s) to display is by resetting the SMC. Then once I disconnect and try to replug I get the same issue. Please assist.

I found a previous post and looked at an Apple Display article which does not address the issue.

Thanks

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 11.0

You would think it would come with the correct cable but I wouldn’t rely on them sending you the correct replacement.

It is usually a problem of "lowest bidder" cables, not incorrect cables. Very high data rates require specially made cables. Display makers just want to throw a cable, any cable, into the box so you can get a picture and not return the display.

Hey thanks for the quick response! I’ve got an Apple Rewards credit to use, so I can pickup one today from our local Apple store. I guess I would benefit as far as when opening applications, working with video production, etc. with the TB3 connection, I assume I am getting the same quality of resolution with the standard USB-C cable? I hope the swapped cable will do the trick, wonder if LG would replace the TB3 cable that seems to be faulty?

I picked up the Apple Thunderbolt 3 Pro Cable (2m), I needed a little longer cable than 0.8m than the standard Apple TB3 cable. I am still having issues with this cable, or maybe I need to tweak a few things -- I need to nail it down if it's just something going on with my M1 or a particular setting. Would you tell me exactly how you have your connection setup with your 32UL950 monitor (your System Preferences setting, the monitor setting and which ports are you using from the M1 to LG monitor? I appreciate your help.
