In the Home App, Intercom is turned on, in Receive Notification When - my only choice is NEVER. When I try to use Intercom on my new Homepod, says turn it on in the Home App (it is turned on). Software is up to date and push notifications are allowed. Suggestions? btw, my Homepod Mini works fine.

I had a similar issue and this worked for me. In the Settings app go to Privacy, then Location Services, then Home and set it to “While Using the App”. You should then have the other options for intercom in the Home app.

In order to use intercom on HomePod/HomePod Mini, you have to have two HomePods/HomePod Minis or have an apple device linked to an HomePod/HomePod Mini. you need to make sure the Intercom feature is enabled on your Homepod/HomePod Mini in the Home App and also in your iPhone/iPad etc, settings.
