I have only one Windows computer associated with my apple ID, but I cannot associate my Windows laptop as my second of 5 total available openings. Why not????

I had read this option before but was afraid to eliminate the association with the only Widows desktop that is enrolled with my Apple ID. I want to be assured that if I deactivate all of them that I will be then able to re-activate at least one. I want to have my Windows desktop interact with I tunes and all of the music that I have downloaded over the years. Has anyone actually eliminated all associations and then was able to re-establish the connections to the appropriate computers.

I deactivated all of my computers once because it had computers I no longer had. I was then able to add my current computer back, but my computer(s) were Apple computers. I don't have any experience adding back a Windows computer.
