When I plug my iPhone XS into my MacBook Air running Big Sur the device signals it is getting a charge, but the device is not recognized by the MacBook. How can I fix this? I want to sync my music library from my Mac to my iPhone.

Open FINDER and you should see your iPhone in the connected device(s) list under your folders and directories (Left Column).
You can even open the MUISC app and see your iPhone listed there for any music management that you would like you to perform.

Yeah, I got that. I spent an hour with Apple support earlier in the week and all they told me to do was upgrade to Big Sur. I did that and nothing changed. I've used MacBook OS's and iPhones for seven years and only now is this a problem.
I have followed the steps shown in Apple Support. The iPhone does not appear in Finder, nor under System Information/USB when plugged into the MacBook.

I said the device is not recognized. Therefor it does not show up in Finder or in Music. That's the problem.
I experience the same problem on a new iMac with MacOS 11.1 (Big Sur) and an iPhone XS with iOS 14.3. In contrast to BGillings, I do see the iPhone in the System Report and Dropbox can sync images (i.e. it obviously is recognised as USB device). But unfortunately the Music App does not recognize the iPhone.
The iPhone is still properly recognized and can be backed up with my old MacBook Pro, which still has the iTunes App. From my point of view the problem seems to be either Big Sur or the Music App.
Has this problem already reported by more users? Is there already a solution? I appreciate your help!
