macOS Big Sur copy icons from one folder to another

Dears,


I cannot copy icons from one folder to another,

after click on the folder then command+I , I try to copy the icon I would like to have in another folder but when I paste on the new folder it doesn't; do you have any suggestion how to solve?

Howdy,

Well this is odd.

It worked for me. I was able to copy a purple icon from an older folder I had to a new one with no problem.


But after testing on a folder in a write protected area (which wouldn't be allowed), I just got a beep sound and no change.

Then it wouldn't let me change an icon in a non-protected folder like the one above until I restarted.

After a restart I could change the icon again, and others.


Does a restart allow you to change icons?

Of course it won't work in a write protected folder.
