apple watch 6 SIM

Just purchased an apple watch6 with cellular capability. Yet when setting it up the watch says no SIM, and the AT&T workflow brings up a blank page after entering AT&T userID, etc.

Why does it say "No SIM"? My apple receipt shows I purchased an apple watch6 with cellular function.

The Apple instructions for setting up cellular on the Apple Watch are not useful.

Thank you!

If you followed the instructions you would have seen point three is to establish an eligible plan with a phone/cellular service provider (which must be the same provider as your iPhone's service provider). From there you can set up the e-sim on the watch for your carrier.

If you have not done this then there is no active SIM and the phone will report this as "No SIM".

If you have set up a cellular service there may be a problem with either the watch or the carrier settings and you need to get advice.
