Audio interfaces to M1 mac mini?
I can't get any audio interfaces to work with new M1 mac mini. I've tried Thunderbolt and USB.

It has it listed there as a USB device, but there is no sound showing up on the input levels when i try the mic. Though if i plug in the mixer and mic to a speaker system, the mic works through the speakers. Bluetooth only works as an input from the computer, like to play music through the mixer to speakers, not as an output back to the computer to record. It's been a serious headache.
However, as an update, I will say that this mixer is doing the same thing on two other computers I tried, a 2017 Macbook Pro as well as a Windows PC. All say the device is connected, but will not read the mic signal. It makes absolutely no sense.
Some good news is this does give a clue that the issue is with the mixer, not my Mac Mini. I have contacted the manufacturer and hope to hear from them soon. If anyone else has any suggestions please don't hesitate to reply. I've had this mixer sitting on my desk for a month and I'm growing desperate lol.
I would buy , Focusrite 2I2 3rd version with USB c connector , if you are just plug in a guitar and Mic works perfectly with Mini M1 and all other softwares out there once you set it up as your sound in and out
no drivers needed and Controller works perfect
my firewire saffire pro 28 was a complete no-go, even with the necessary adapters. seems like those just aren't going to work, so i gave it away and switched to a 3rd gen 2i2. at first it was just randomly disconnecting in the same manner that the saffire pro did. but it's been over a week and no problems so far.
still seems like big sur presented some significant problems for legacy equipment.
A few things I always check when connecting an Audio Interfaces to a Mac:
1) When MacOS sleep the harddrives the audio and MIDI drivers may become unmounted. To fix this go to System Preferences->Mac Energy Saver:
a) Turn OFF 'Put hard disk to sleep when possible'
b) Turn ON "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off"
2) Connect Audio interfaces directly to computer and not through a hub - especially when debugging. If you have to go through hub then make sure it's powered.
3) Turn on system in the following sequence:
Step 1 - power on connected audio interface
Step 2 - power on computer
Step 3 - power on speaker monitors
Step 4 - Wait a few minutes for background startup task and syncing to finish
4) Turn off system using the opposite of the turn on procedure
5) Run laptop off of powered outlet and not internal battery. powered USB and Midi devices quickly draw down the battery and when the level is low the MacOS power management becomes more aggressive by throttling and powering off what it perceives is nonessential.
From what I've read online, USB class compliant audio interfaces seem to be working but not Thunderbolt audio interfaces on the M1 machines. My Apogee Element 88 and 46 units didn't work and were not recognised by Logic Pro X or by the Apogee Element software itself though the light on them came on. Apogee says compatibility with the M1 machines would be available in July-August 2021.
I tested my Line 6 HX Stomp guitar effects unit, which also functions as an audio interface on my M1 MacBook Pro and luckily it worked fine in Logic Pro X and was recognised as an input/ output device. So I can record ideas for now with good sound quality. Of course the Line 6 HX Edit software for editing patches etc. was very slow and sluggish so Line 6 needs to update that for the M1.
I guess all the manufacturers are working on making their products compatible with the M1 machines.

In the old days the above response is what we referred to as a "copout"...
In the "new days" we refer to it as asking the people most qualified
to answer your questions or resolve your issues.
My understanding is that the interface manufactures or trying to get their software to communicate properly with the new M1 chip which is using Rosetta 2 which is a translator. All of the manufacturers that I’ve looked at are all saying that they should have the problem solved in early 2021
I am using Focusrite 2i2 3rd generation USB to USB C , Works perfectly with my Mac mini m1 I didn't install any Driver , I used Same Control panel that I used for my Focusrite Thunderbolt and worked Perfectly

You will need to contact the audio interface manufacture.
Simple, use an audient id22 audio usb interface with the latest drivers. Works perfect with big sur 11.1 and logic 10.6.1. Thats what I use without any problems.
I have a Presonus Audiobox 96 usb interface and it works fine with my M1 Mac mini, using the most up to date version of the Universal Control. hope this helps.
Oké, after powering down switching back to CC-mode and powering up it’s recognized again by soundmanager/logic but not by Yamaha’s DSP.
I have an Roland Edirol FA-101 FireWire interface, works without problems from os9 (with driver) and all OSX versions up till now on my Mac Mini M1 (thunderbolt 3>2>FireWire adapter) without installing any driver! 🤩
My Steinberg UR44 was working Class Compliant until I installed the USB driver and software from Yamaha, since then it’s recognized by system and Yamaha’s DSP but not by sound manager or Logic X. Uninstalling brought no juice! 🤬
I don't think you should have any issues with this since it works with USB and BT , see Sound in/Out and Under system info /USB if your sound interface recognized and connected.
