iPhone photos are sharper when editing only?

I have an iPhone 11 on the latest software. I’m noticing that many of my photos are clear and sharp when editing, but once in plain viewing mode, they become slightly out of focus. Why is this and how can I fix it? It makes it difficult to pare down photos when I can’t clearly compare multiples.

iPhone 11, iOS 14

Hello erin_elizabeth882,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having trouble with your photos appearing blurry after you edit them. We are happy to share information that may help.

First, take a look at the information here about editing photos: Take and edit photos with your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Next, if you're using iCloud Photos, check under Settings > your name > iCloud > Photos > Optimize iPhone Storage. If you're using Optimize iPhone Storage, full resolution version of your photos will not be stored on your iPhone. You can find more information here: Use iCloud Photos on iPhone.

Take care.
