Camera not working in Big Sur

Hey Apple,

After updating to OS X Big Sur my camera has stopped working. This goes for every application, including FaceTime, Zoom, Teams etc.

I have tried rebooting to no avail.

Can you please help?

Regards,

Jacob

Does this help? From https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252040930?answerId=254102270022#254102270022 it says:

"I had the same issue, what I found was that my Virus Protection software "Kaspersky" had set the privacy setting to block the Webcam, changed it to Allow Webcam and now its ok. I didn't have this issue when using previous versions of Mac OS, for those that's having an issue it might be worth a look"

It's interesting because I upgraded to Big Sur and have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) (MacBookPro13,3) and did not have a problem with the camera failing. As far as I can tell, some others with this model did have the problem.

So it might not be model specific.

Can anyone confirm 100% that they have the same MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) (MacBookPro13,3) and it has the problem?

I'm sorry, I don't believe in this. My MacBook Pro's camera was working until I updated to BigSur. Now it's not working anymore. If Apple comes to me saying ''but that a faulty hardware might be triggered by an update'' it's something I cannot stand. I hope Apple will solve this asap because It's already a lot since I cannot use my iSight camera! This situation ****** me a lot off even cause it's something that happened to a other people, not only to me or to you.

OK. So we've established this problem has affected the following models:

MacBookAir8,1 (MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2018))

MacBookPro11,2 (MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014))

MacBookPro13,1 (MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016))

MacBookPro13,2 (MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports))

MacBookPro13,3 (MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016))

If you're seeing the same issue and your Mac isn't listed above, please post your Mac details so we can add to this list.

More interesting, if you're Mac is listed above but you are not having this problem, can you confirm that too, please?

FYI: My own Mac does not have the issue and yet is on the above list (MacBookPro13,3 (MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)))

Perhaps eventually we can provide Apple with enough information to figure this out. I'm still thinking it's firmware related.

My Mac's firmware (for the MacBookPro13,3 (MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)) is 429.60.3.0.0 - does anyone have a different version of firmware for this Mac?
