Cellular 5G for iPad Pro

I have a 2018 (gen 1) iPad 11 pro with 4G cellular and I just purchased a 2020 (gen 2) iPad Pro 11 with 5G cellular.

Q: I don’t know if getting 4G versus 5G is:

  • a “hardware in the device” thing or
  • a “SIM card only” thing or
  • both “a device hardware AND SIM card” thing

Will the current Verizon SIM card from my 4G iPad Pro 11 (2018 gen. 1) give me 5G cellular in my 5G iPad Pro 11 (2020 gen. 2) or do I need a new 5G SIM card from Verizon? I’m thinking I will need to call Verizon and get a 5G SIM card, but I’d like to be sure. Thanks!

Thanks @sberman for the quick reply. It looks I made a mistake. I inappropriately connected the 2020-Pro-iPhone (which clearly has 5G) and the 2020-Pro-iPad to contain the same tech. I triple checked the details on Apple iPad site and it clearly shows “LTE cellular” and never mentioned 5G anywhere - my bad. I guess my current 4G SIM will work just fine. Thanks again!
