red tint in some photos

Hi.

I've just started using an iPhone 12 pro and I've noticed some photos have a red tint in the center. Attached is an example of a navy blue dress photographed in a room where the only light source is an adjacent window. It only happens with dark coloured subjects and until recently I was using an iPhone X and didn't have this problem. Any suggestions?

Hello MoonJ and thanks for your reply.

I have been through the five steps, the phone doesn't have a case and I have restarted the phone. The problem happens with the front facing camera too but in bright light the tint disappears. I also tried my partners iPhone 12 and it also exhibits the same problem. I have been dealing with it by dialing down the exposure compensation (nice to see this feature) to -0.7 or even -1 which helps a lot.

Hey Rob2357,

We're glad you thought to ask Apple Support Communities about the issue you're having with a red tint appearing when taking photos of darker objects. We want to help! Let's start with the steps under "If the camera isn't working" here: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

If the issue continues, let us know:

  • Does this also happen with the front facing camera?
  • If the picture is taken in better light, does the red tint still appear?

The more details you can provide, the better.

Take care.
