Troubleshooting iMovie issues in macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

What problems did I face:

1. After installing iMovie from the App Store - error (Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (Code Signature Invalid); Termination Reason: Namespace CODESIGNING, Code 0x1)

2.Share / export my media in iMovie - error (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1)

3. Maybe there are others ...

I read for a long time different topics on discussions.apple.com, where they offered different solutions (for example, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251828217), but all this did not help me ...

After much suffering, I succeeded. Here is my solution to these problems:

1. Remove iMovie to trash;

2. Install the latest compatible version from the App Store (in my case, it's 10.1.12);

3. Without starting iMovie, open a terminal and execute sudo spctl --master-disable;

4. Launch iMovie, close iMovie;

5. Return to the terminal and run sudo spctl --master-enable;

6. Enjoy iMovie !!!

Hi Rich839,

Yes, in my case the problem with Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain was solved, iMovie now works great!

By the way, the same problem with (Namespace CODESIGNING, Code 0x1) arose when installing Microsoft Remote Desktop 10xxx from the App Store, the method with sudo spctl --master-disable sudo spctl --master-enable also helped in this case. The rest of the apps from the App Store did not have this problem.

Strange, but this problem only occurs on 10.13.6 (clean install, all updates installed). I tried to install 10.11.6 - there was no such problem.
