"Disc Authoring Error, An error occurred in creating the menus for your disc." - New issue when updated to latest version of FCP, Big Sur

I just updated to both Big Sur and the latest build of FCP after finishing a recent project, and I now need to re-burn that project to fix a minor error. Unfortunately, after updating I've discovered this new error and it has me baffled. I'm using the exact same assets for the menu as I was prior to the update, and I've never seen this error come up before. I've probably made hundreds of both DVD and Blu Ray masters in the past few years.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening or how I can fix it? Not using custom menu items is not an option, unfortunately.

First up, FCP 10.5 and Big Sur can burn discs as in the past versions.

There have always been problems with disc burning but it is usually associated with a specific Mac for a variety of reasons.

One thing; when you update from an older OS is to give Permission in System Preferences>Security>Privacy and give FCP Full Disc Access.

FCP needs this permission to access available drive space. It's a one of switch on, it can be switched off just as easily.

Unfortunately, this was not the issue. I already checked that as well, and it was already enabled. I also discovered another problem with the update, where FCP would freeze every time when trying to render at a specific location on my timeline. I have on idea why it would cause a problem at that specific location; there aren't any specific things on the timeline at that point that might cause a slowdown. And FCP had no problem rendering the same timeline before I updated, much quicker than it does now I might add.

Can you provide more info on specifics?

What are the specs of the problem clip/s and also the FCP Project properties they are edited into?

Sometimes if you delete the problem area and re-instate the same clip/s it may work.

Also try a Copy/Paste into a New Project that has the same properties as the clips.
