Bugs in Keynote (ver 9.1, High Sierra OS) in recording the slideshow --- Fix it this simple way

In the beginning of the recording of the slideshow:

  • wait pass the '3-2-1-dot' countdown for 5 seconds or longer before turning the mike off ( at the bottom left corner)(if you do not intend to record your voice, and just synchronize your slides with the chosen music file)

Then you will be able to export the key file as 1080p mov/m4v file that can be played in Quicktime or VLC.

Please confirm for me if this works out for you.

There is indeed a bug in Keynote 9.1 when making a recording, later versions do not have this issue.

However keeping the mic open for a number of seconds at the start of the recording, results in unnecessary background sound in the recording, which then requires further editing in video editing software.

Simpler and more efficient to set the input mic level to zero before recoding in System Preferences > Sound > Input (move the slider all the way to the left), then no sound is recorded at all.
