AirPods Connection Rejected

Hello, my AirPods have been working fine, but recently they have been having issues connecting to my iPhone and macbook. I have tried using the forget device on my iPhone for it to not appear as an option when attempting to reconnect the AirPods-I originally went this route as my right AirPod was not working, but not the other. As I am still having this issue with my iPhone the AirPods now say that they are connected to my Macbook and won't play music or then say that they have been rejected. My charging case has been charged and my AirPods have been sitting in them, any help? I have tried several methods such as waiting 15 or 30 seconds before attempting to pair the AirPods with my device.
