How do I get my new 1T WD easystore to reformat to run on my older Mac Pro. I've used all the tricks I can find on Disk Utility. I can't even erase this drive because:
"Unmounting disk; couldn't unmount disk; Operation failed."
All I really want is to transfer files from my old Mac Pro to my brand new iMac Pro

If it's formatted as NTFS and you are trying to write TO it, there is a driver from WD for just that purpose. I have four of those drives but I reformatted all of them as soon as I got them home. There may be a folder on that drive that has it. If not, one of these pages should help. Good Luck!

If it won't unmount, apparently your Mac does recognize the disk. How is it currently formatted? Can you save any files on to it? I would first contact WD for assistance with this. If you can't get it fixed, then arrange to return it under warranty. Good luck.

My Easystore seems to be formatted in (Windows NT File System) NTFS. Because it won't unmount I can't reformat it. It shows up on the desktop and I can open it and look at the get info window. It ejects properly, but It's impossible to transfer a file to it from the computer. It just sits there and smiles!
