Mark up feature for apple pencil on notes gone?

I'm running ios 14.2 on my iPad with apple pencil support. Previously, I could scribble on my notes(which is what I like). Now it automatically converts my scribbles into text. I've lost the ability to doodle and even the mark up selection tool is gone.

How do I go back to my doodling and scribbling without it changing to text?

Apple Pencil 2 missing double tap options I have an 11” IPad Pro 3rd gen with Apple Pencil 2. IOS 15.7. When I go to settings to check or change the pencil settings, I don’t have any options to do so. I just get something about scribble. Double tap doesn’t work on the pencil. Apple Notes lag when taking handwritten notes on iPad Pro with Apple Pencil I have the 2nd generation iPad Pro and noticed a lot of lag after updating to iPadOS 16.1. This is especially prominent as the size of the notes increase (i.e. more than 4 - 5 pages). At this point, the current note is completely unusable. I have also noticed that if you close the notes once the lag appears, apple notes does not save the 'laggy portion' as well. I restarted the iPad and also ensured no apps were running in the background. Lag remains.

Figured it out. I had to delete notes and reinstall from the app store. Now my mark up toolbar is back and have full function again. So if anyone encounters the same issue try this.
