iphone contacts wont merge to macbook

I recently purchased a refurbished 2015 macbook. My Icloud information syncs fine, but only half on my contacts have merged from my iphone to my macbook. i have tried turning the settings off and back on on both devices and restarting both devices and it still has not worked. However my contacts do merge entirely on to my watch and ipad. any help is appreciated

Have you checked to see if the rest of your contacts are part of another internet account? More info on setting up your internet accounts can be found here.
