Uploading files to Vimeo, upload stalls while away from computer.

Here is a weird question that I cannot understand. I produce a weekly hour long program is rather large, about 3 gigs. I use the 720p upload preset and that is about the smallest I can make it and still have great quality. So, I begin the upload, all is well so I walk away. When I come back later the screen saver has kicked in but the computer is not sleeping. But, the upload has stalled. If I move the mouse around the upload resumes. This should not be happening. Most people begin an upload and come back later and all is well. I am lost. Any ideas?

After many stalled upload experiences I now have all the boxes checked, set the display slider to never sleep, and turn turn off the screen saver function in its pane. I then turn the display brightness all the way down so the screen is just visible. I also get fewer stalls using Firefox instead of Safari. Once the upload is finished I reset the screen saver and sleep times.
