iMovie not uploading time lapses taken on iPhone

Hey all,

Currently I am trying to upload multiple time-lapse videos taken on my iPhone to iMovie for a mural project. When I click and drag an element from my Photos app, it puts in an approx 3-second long clip of a barely moving photo. I have used iMovie in the past with time-lapse elements on other projects and it has been fine.

I got frustrated and downloaded iMovie on my phone and had no problems there, but I wanted the more in-depth edit and easier tools from my computer. I re-uploaded a rough draft from my phone and it worked once but when I tried to upload a different version a second time it didn't take. Anyone know what's going on?

Thank so much,

Emma

Hi, Emma,

Not sure what is happening there. If it is a "moving photo" it actually is a video. When you expand out your timeline with the slider located above the timeline to the right, does it appear to be a video with a duration time?

Try using AirDrop to export your time lapse video to your desktop and check to see of the time lapse works there. If yes, then drag the video into an iMovie timeline.

Also, since the time lapse works in the iPhone iMovie app, try using AirDrop to actually export the iMovie project (not video) to your Mac. It will appear in your Mac's Downloads folder. Double click on the project's icon there and it will open in an iMovie for Mac project. Or from within an iMovie for Mac project you can click on File/Import iMovie iOS projects and navigate to your Downloads folder from where you can import the project. Then see if the time lapse works in iMovie for Mac.
