What changed in Safari that has disabled the "Attach" & "Insert" buttons in AOL & GMAIL? It was working the other day. When one of these buttons is clicked, we no longer get the file selection menu.
These functions work in FireFox.

I assume you're using Mojave 10.14.6, and Safari 14.0.1
If so you're in good company, there are many many people struggling with uploading files on all different websites.
As you say Firefox and Chrome seem to be ok.
Safari 14.0 is fine with Mojave
Safari 14.0.1 seems to be ok with Catalina (at least for this upload issue)
If you want to use Safari in mojave 10.14.6, then I posted this workaround.

This helps but is a long drawn-out process.
However, the correct solution is for Apple to update Safari with a fix. Their last update caused the problem. Therefore, they should fix it.
