If your battery says Service recommended:

https://support.apple.com/mac/repair/service

otherwise you can read up on the new normal—

macOS Catalina 10.15.5 introduces battery health management, a feature designed to improve the lifespan of your Mac notebook's battery.

The Battery Health button appears in >SystemPreferences>Energy Saver —this feature is limited to Mac laptops with Thunderbolt 3 ports. That equates to all MacBook Pro models released since late 2016 and the Retina-capable MacBook Air models released since 2018.

With the release of macOS 11.0.1 Big Sur see >System Preferences>Battery

What symptoms are you having? Are you getting a system service advisory regarding your battery?

If you are seeing short runtime but no advisories that your battery needs service or is failing, that could be unneeded third-party software. Anti-virus software and so-called "cleaning" apps are useless and will decrease battery runtime significantly.

Chrome is also well-know battery drainer on Windows laptops as well and Macs. If you use Chrome. don't leave it open in the background when you are not using it.

Did you just upgrade to Big Sur? After a major upgrade Spotlight indexing is quite busy and can use a lot of resources until it catches up with all the changes. I always update with the computer on wall power and continue to use wall power for several hours after the update is complete so Spotlight does not drain the battery.
