trading in an iPhone with cracked screen when I have apple care.

HI-

I currently have an iPhone 11 with a cracked screen. It is covered by apple care. I would like to trade it in and by a iPhone 12 pro. Do I have to get the 11 fixed first and then start the process of buying the 12 and trading in the 11? Or can I skip a step since it is all through apple? Thanks!
