No Subtitles Appearing When Foreign Language Spoken on Apple TV app.

I'm trying to watch Kill Bill on my MacBook Air, and have tried on my Amazon Firestick but whenever it gets to a part of the film with Japanese speech, the English subtitles are not appearing.

I've been through the subtitles menu, accessibility settings etc.. to no avail. The only languages appearing in subtitles are Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish and Thai. There is no option for English subtitles when required.

Can anyone advise? Or does Apple assume that all English speakers can also speak Japanese?
