Play slideshow in window is available in the latest version of Keynote 10.3.8. you will need to upgrade to Mac OS 10.15.7 Catalina, your iMac 2013 is compatible with Catalina.

If considering Catalina, be aware that older 32 bit applications do not run in Catalina; examples are MS Office 2011 & Photoshop CS6. Also printer manufacturers may not have drivers for Catalina, so do some careful research.

There are no updates for Keynote that are compatible with OS 10.12 Sierra, you would need to update the Mac OS to a later version, and only if your Mac can run later OS versions.
What exact Mac model do you have? (Go to Apple menu > About this Mac)
Thank you very much.
I have Mac (27-inch, Late 2013)
My Keynote is 8.1, and I realize I cannot get the latest version, but I was hoping to get maybe a 9 or so.
There is a Keynote feature "Play slideshow in window", that I would like, but cannot presently access.
I use an external drive with High Sierra installed for use with older applications, Catalina is installed on the internal drive to run the latest applications. This allows starting up in either Mac OS as required.
Aha. I have a Seagate 2TB external drive that is free.
Your'e saying that I could:
a) put the Sierra OS on there, and use that when using InDesign
b) put the newest OS on the Mac, and and use at other times?
c) at startup, I would then choose which OS.
I use InDesign every day, and Keynote maybe 3 times a year. So, that might not be worth the effort. However, presuming that someday for some reason I must update the OS, it would be a good idea to do as you have done? Keep the old OS on an external drive?
Thank you very much.
I am staying with the older OS because I can run InDesign without a monthly fee. This will not last forever, I fear.
Thank you very much for your help.
The short answer is yes to all your questions. That would be a win win situation as you would be able to use both old and new software as required.
