Airplane mode icon in homescreen bug

Hi,

sometimes I turn on airplane mode.

after turning off the airplane mode from the control center it still shows the airplane icon on the homescreen. In the ControlCenter screen or when I open an app it shows the symbols for WiFi, cellular and provider name as expected.

after restarting phone it’s gone from homescreen and works good.

this is happening since one of the last iOS versions (v13...)

Hello, Elvis4PB!

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities! If we understand correctly, you're still seeing the airplane icon on screen after disabling it from the Control Center. We'd like to help!

If you disable Airplane Mode from Settings instead of the Control Center, does this persist?

If so, we recommend installing the latest iOS version then test to see if you continue to notice this behavior:

Take care!

Thanks for the reply, Elvis4PB.

When exactly do you turn on Airplane Mode? Are you enabling it before setting up and using sleep schedules on your iPhone? Do you notice the same issue if you leave Airplane Mode disabled, or is it being used to prevent notifications/calls/texts?

If you force restart your iPhone, does the same behavior persist:

Feel free to post a reply with more details.

All the best.

We appreciate those details, Elvis4PB.

It sounds like the application you're using might be triggering this. Are you using the sleep schedules in the Health app? If not, and you're using a third-party app, check for app updates next:

Update apps or use automatic downloads - Apple Support

If all apps are up-to-date, force quit the app, then uninstall it. Test to see if the airplane icon remains on screen with it uninstalled prior to reinstalling the app:

If this doesn't happen with the app uninstalled, reach out to the app developer:

If this continues when the app is uninstalled, Contact Apple Support.

Okay, here again the steps. Maybe it wasn’t clear enough:

it happens unfortunately not all the time

  • start timer in sleep cicle
  • Swipe up to open control center
  • Tab on airplane mode

=> crashing the control center. It will close it with short phone vibration

  • stop sleep timer at the next morning
  • Swipe up to open control center
  • try to turn off airplane mode again

=> turns it off in the header when an app is active. But in homescreen it still shows the airplane ✈️ mode icon

What a unqualified reply from a so called Community Specialist?

i wrote already, that the OS is up-to-date.

ofcource I have made sure, that I use already the latest version of the app Sleep Cycle.

i turned also my television on and off, just in case that this could be one of your next suggestions.

most likely it is the combination of the app Sleep Cycle wit the Control Center.

but fact is: airplane mode and control center is part of the OS. So the App sleep cycle is not fully responsible for the error behavior.

I was under the impression I let the apple devs know the problem here in the forum that they can take care. But obviously I’m wrong here.
