This isn’t even a question I just want to let apple know that this haptics sound thing that keeps turning my music down for me ‘to protect my ears’ when I’m listening to music through my speakers is SO ANNOYING.
Let me turn this setting off. I’m listening through Bluetooth on speakers loudly in my house, it’s not dangerous. And even if I was listening on headphones, it’s none of your business if I hurt my ears. I like loud music.
Update to iOS 14.4 - it's fixed!
The new options in Bluetooth pairing now allow you to set all bluetooth audio devices (except Apple branded headphones) to Speaker, Car audio etc.
Tap the (i) next to the paired device and select the appropriate type.
You may have to delete the pairing and pair again.

Go to Settings/Sounds & Haptics - Headphone Safety and turn off the switches, I think this would work but still please don't damage your ears with loud music. I hope that it helped, have a nice day!

Remove the paired device
Pair again
Tap on the (i)
Set to “speaker”
At your own risk

If you have Screen Time turned on in Settings, you can prevent changes to the maximum headphone volume. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Reduce Loud Sounds, then select Don't Allow. This did the trick for me.
Apple are fixing this in the next update. This is the new Bluetooth section. You are able to select device type.
You understand, of course, that this is an implementation of an EU regulation, so whatever other brand you buy in the EU will have a similar limitation. Enjoy your new phone.
This is such a ridiculous response. If I’m listening to music through SPEAKERS, not HEADPHONES there is absolutely no connection between how loud it’s playing on my phone, how loud the speakers go and whether or not that’s going to damage my ears.
Thanks genius. How do you know whether I’ve got massively loud surround sound speakers or cheap little ones that need to be full blast to even be heard over cleaning/cooking/washing up/dancing/chatting/whatever the **** activity I want to be able to hear music while I do? It’s not up to you or apple to decide what’s loud or not, it should be up to me. You really need a phone to be able to tell you what’s sensible or not?
I tried that first but there’s no option for ‘settings’ or whatever, only hardware or certain softwares, none which fit this issue. Figured I’d just try shouting about it and if enough people do on various platforms they might notice...
This is really annoying me too. It's totally up to me how loud I play my music! At 56 years of age it's probably a little too late to start worrying about volume. That ship sailed approximately 1982 at a Motorhead gig! What I have discovered though, is that Spotify is okay. Doesn't happen when you're streaming. Something Apple can't control maybe? (yet)
You know that patronising volume **** was making me want to smash my phone to bits. But I think it’s stopped after my last update. Now it’s just a ping warning but no auto reduced volume. And that is how it should be.
So I posted on here complaining about this issues months ago. Now I get frequent notifications telling me I should turn my music down but that’s it, my phone has totally stopped turning itself down automatically. I’m fine with the notifications. I’m just wondering if anyone else experienced this or are y’all still having the same issue
Me too, this is the last straw! I’ve owned an IPhone since it launched I’m currently using my 11 which will be my last because of Apple policing how loud my music can be, I’m simply speechless they didn’t allow us to switch this off.

You nailed it. It is literally the reason I’m going to get rid of everything apple. I do not need a company to monitor anything for me! At least give us the option to sign the contract stating we won’t hold them acceptable and then turn it off! After 35 years apples going to loose my business over this!
