Messages not loaded on new phone

I’ve just upgraded to iPhone 12 but my message screen is just black. When I go into settings and press messages nothing happens. How to I solve this?

Are you using iCloud Messages? If so, the iPhone would need time time to sync all those messages again. If not, have you tried this? If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open - Apple Support or you can try a Force Restart on the iPhone, Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
