iPhone 12, new Brother MFC-J491DW printer. The IPhone and printer both connect to wireless network easily. But will not connect to each other I get error message “ No Air-Print printers found”. Most sites say to check router for “ privacy separator settings”. Xfinity Xfi does not have this. Any ideas?

Brother “I-print &scan” app is used to connect the devices.
I found a video from Brother that’s states if the two won’t connect, I have to enable IPV6. Will try that.
Is your router connected by wifi and not ethernet cable?
Have you installed the latest firmware for your printer?
All your devices are on the same wifi network?
Been there done that multiple times. Printer will not connect to iPad either.
Mac is Ethernet. Printer is WiFi. I have USB cable from Mac to printer. I have disconnected USB and Mac will print but not iPhone or iPad. Installed app to make connection to printer from iPhone but it does not connect. I have done all the usual checks and restarts but it will not connect. Of course Brother support is not open.
If it is an AirPrint compatible printer (yours is) it doesn’t need an app, although there are some apps that add features. But if the app isn’t working you need to get help from Brother. Can you print without using the app?
In your router settings do you have any ports blocked? For example, Bonjour service uses 1900 and 5353.
Turn your router off, back on.
