why can't my MacBook be covered by applecare

I bought my MacBook a couple days ago and the site says my machine isn't available for AppleCare.

bought from BestBuy, not open box, MacBook Pro 13 inch, 2019, 4 thunderbolt 3 ports, 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

16GB and 1TB

I'm looking for it because my fan is running incessantly while I'm running chrome, pages, and keynote. Oh, I'm watching a YT vid on chrome.

A reseller purchase takes a few days to register with Apple, and if Apple isn’t aware the Mac was bought it’s not eligible. You might try calling Apple, or see if you can buy AppleCare through Best Buy (I have done so, but only at the time of purchase).

You have 60 days from purchase to buy AppleCare.

A new Apple product would usually include complementary limited warranty

and offer a longer term extended plan for additional cost. ~ Not sure what's

happening, if yours was an 'online order' or 'contact-free' pickup from a store?

The MacBook Pro 13-inch 2019 model would likely have the better design

"butterfly keyboard" that had been upgraded to better technology. (A new

'magic keyboard' was upgrade for 2020 model.)

An 'authorized Apple reseller' such as BestBuy could offer their own warranty.

The product may have been purchased at retail -and not used- then returned.

So if this path occurred, the unit may not qualify as 'new' to AppleCare. You

may have to ask of BestBuy, what's happened with that purchase. ~ As 'non-

Apple' source, other re-sellers don't necessarily play by same rules.

Last-year models usually have lower prices in traditional 'holiday sale' times.

..Not sure what Best Buy could do ~ nor how that affects your choices there..
