Just bought an iPhone 12… Contacts are saved but cannot see who’s calling except for their phone number all the phone number seven saved for the names but cannot see contacts even the ones that have a picture associated to it what do I need to do

Check the phone number format stored.
Please check the Phone Number format stored in your Contact list. There must not be any manually added spaces in between the numbers. However when you enter a phone number iPhone will add spaces, hyphen & parenthesis based on the country code prefixed to the number. That is OK, but do not add manually.
