Why is Apple Music not showing explicit songs, albums, playlists?

If you’re wondering if I’ve turned Content and Privacy restrictions off yes, it’s disabled.

Now the issue happens when like I said, searching for a song, artist or album. The clean version of the songs come up in the search results, so when I want to listen to the explicit version, I have to click on the album, scroll all the way down and then click on the explicit album and play the song that way. Additionally, all of my playlists have been switched from the explicit version when i created the playlists to now all clean.

This did not happen before the iOS 14 update. I’ve read postings of other Apple Music users having a similar problem.

I love the Apple Music app, its my most used app by a huge margin every single day, so when the app is bugging out like this it’s very frustrating.

If your team could get back to me as soon as possible I would appreciate it.

Hey there impulsiveadam,

We can definitely understand the frustration of not having your Apple Music play the correct content. We're happy to provide some steps to help you with this. Follow these steps in order:

  1. Open the Music App.
  2. Search for the explicit song that triggered the most recent explicit content alert.
  3. Play the song preview.
  4. If prompted to allow explicit content, tap "Allow".
  5. Return to your playlist.
  6. Test the playback on that same song.

Let us know if this works for you.

Take care and be safe.
