Thank you so much for your reply. My husband & I have owned 4 or 5 iPads between us. The iPad Pro is the only one that has done this. Since the last iOS update it has started showing a message that says “Not Charging” beside the battery indicator at night when it has reached a certain charge level.

Coukd this have have anything to do with a weak battery? It probably needs to be replaced, but we haven’t been able to take it to an Apple Store.

You could be getting this “Not charging” message for other reasons.

You could have a faulty Apple charging cable and/or faulty Apple power/charging adapter block.

I have two of the original 2015/2016, 12.9 iPad Pro models and these are still charging to 100% and I use both of these everyday.

The battery charging behaviour of iPad has always been like tbis and is normal behaviour with ANY iOS device.

The battery circuitry in iOS devices allow a much quicker charge to get an iOS devices’ battery to 80%, then it is a much slower charge to get an iOS device to charge to 100%.

This slower charge, for the last 20% of the iOS charge cycle, is to keep the battery from being additionally stressed by overheating/overcharging issues.
