Screen Mirroring Apple Fitness Plus from Iphone to LG TV, not working...

Why is screen mirroring from iphone to lg tv not working. Preview of fitness session works, countdown of session works. Screen goes black with audio only once session begins. How do I fix this?

I apologize for not making things more clear.

I went ahead and bought the Apple 4K tv.

yes it works great! I was able to do as many workout on Fitness+ app that I wanted last night.

i am sore today because of it.

mad states before, my son had surgery and won’t be walking for about 5-6 weeks so that’s why I “bit the bullet” and bought the Apple 4K tv. For your Info, I was told the Apple HD also works for the Fitness+ app. I can confirm that also works because I saw it work at Beat Buy.

PLEASE NOTE: If you get one of the newest Apple TV streamers, you MUST update the firmware BEFORE you will see the Apple Fitness App ( in the way of the rings on your watch or phone or iPad) shows up on the tv.

I guess in the end it doesn’t matter why you buy it. Just know that I confirm on these two options, it does work very well.

As I posted in the official Apple Memo ( or whatever you want to call it) there will be NO OTHER WAY this will work except one of the two steamers.

Also there is NO credit being given to purchase one.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Following on my earlier post, today I tried using my IPad Pro and attaching it via its USB-C port to the HDMI input on my TV. No luck in getting the workout videos to mirror. Now I am getting a message --

"Cannot Play Video

The video for this workout is unavailable at this time

End Workout"

The videos that can be mirrored are the "Welcome to Fitness +" and the Previews all work.

I have seen a photo of a user hooking up the same way and his was working.

I am about to give up on Fitness +

what article did he cite? Is it in writing that Fitness+ is not intended to be used with mirroring? I would like to read that. I know they all going to send us an article of system requirement, which needs Apple Watch, Apple TV, or iPad and iPhone but it doesn't say anything about screen mirroring. My point is if some people can mirror with USB-C to HDMI then I don't see why they won't let us do it with Lighting to HDMI

Do you have a TV that runs iOS? If not then it cannot connect to the Watch to communicate with each other. And Apple's information clearly lays out what devices are supported. Not sure why you are so averse to the Apple TV but if you return your dongle you could use those funds towards an Apple TV. If they have one in the refurbished store you will save even more.

Because the phone is not capable of running the Fitness + software with the connection to the Watch and then stream this continuously to the TV via the HDMI cable. It is also running into a Digital Rights Management problem with the adapter/HDMI cable. The Apple TV is capable of running the software necessary and delivering an encrypted DRM stream to your TV while maintaining a connection with the Apple Watch and displaying the Watch information on the screen in real time. This is by design, try it in your other room.

It is a new service, if you think Apple should change it go here -> https://www.apple.com/feedback/ Even in the announcement event Apple only showed it working with other iDevices and has never stated it will work via mirroring.

You all need to calm down lol. Both sides have valid points. No where on fitness+ program promised it will mirror on TV screen, we all just assumed it will work, given long time Apple user, these kind of things usually just “works”. Especially when the same connection method works with other streaming services it doesn’t make sense it wouldn’t work with Fitness+ I don’t think Apple will make you go out to buy an Apple TV for this, maybe they thought iPhone screen is good enough for workout? Actually I brought my iPhone to the gym for workout everyday before when gym was still open, using Nike workout app. Im still hopeful, I believe this is an error they will fix on next update. Or maybe next update they will kill the USB C to HDMI connection too lol. Who knows.

It’s extremely frustrating. I have an Apple ecosystem, I bought yet another Apple Watch and iPhone, a 2020 iPad Pro and have a TV that is Airplay 2-enabled (complete with the Apple TV+ app - to which I subscribe). Why on Earth would I want to add an Apple TV box to my setup, that I will only use for Fitness+? This is beyond dumb.

I spent time taking to Apple Support and they said the same as many of you have said, “Sorry, it’s not supported, buy an Apple TV to use this on a larger screen.” Off to Peloton I go. Real shame, it just feels wholly uncharacteristic of Apple.

This is extremely disappointing that I cannot use my Apple Fitness+ subscription, Apple Watch 6, and iPhone 12 Pro Max to watch my Fitness+ workout on a TV without the latest Apple TV! Why doesn’t it work with AirPlay? Or a Lightning to HDMI adapter?? Trying to workout while watching my tiny iPhone screen is like an elephant swimming in an inflatable pool! And no I am not going to buy an Apple TV just for this, I already own 2 older Apple TV’s which are also a disappointment. If Apple doesn’t allow using a TV for Fitness+ soon I’m going to cancel my subscription and return my Apple Watch!

I just spoke with everyone I could at Apple about this issue and no credit for subscription, no credit for hardware, and no plans to change this. So disappointed in Apple. Will cancel my subscription since I can’t even use it. They can’t even extend the free subscription or give me a credit. This is so ridiculous! They said that I just need to use my phone or iPad. Who works out watching their phone? My iPad is broken so now I have to spend 150 for an Apple TV? No way

great question! Consumer and market driven logic would naturally assume screen sharing to a display is enabled.

fact is (confirmed as fact with 3 levels of apple support) that Apple has intentionally disabled that feature and only permits a user to display on a TV if the user purchases a recent version of AppleTV Hardware. Yes, hardware.

Hardware that most people don’t need now because their TV or Roku or FireTV stick already provide service needed...except one thing : Apple fitness + .

it sounds crazy to say it but it’s the verified truth.

A (cynical) view might be it is removed to drive sales of the AirPods needed to listen privately while viewing via larger screens! At present the only way to listen via earphones using a big screen is to (impractically) tether earphones to the TV. A more likely explanation is a technical one - the live overview stats coming separately from Apple Watch can not be mirrored using AirPlay as does streamed video.
