Weird smell: AirPods gen 2

A couple of weeks from now I've noticed that my AirPods have this weird smell. I cleaned it, it went away but then the next day came back. I've concluded that the smell comes from the case and not the AirPods themselves.

What should I do to get rid of this bothering strong smell?
