With the release today, can two users do an exercise at the same time on AppleTV?

This is a user-to-user forum. No one here would know Apple's plans for the future. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. Apple neither reads here for suggestions nor posts announcements of new features.

Still reflecting on this issue. For a moment I thought it might be a Bluetooth hardware limitation, but no. I think it is strictly software and an oversight.

Apple often does things to encourage users to buy more devices or pay more for subscriptions, but it doesn't make sense in this case. We're already paying a premium for the family account. Also, we have many Apple devices and they can all talk to the Apple TV, seemingly at the same time (see remote control apps and devices). Finally, it's just not reasonable to expect users to purchase multiple Apple TVs, so they aren't trying to coerce or upsell us. So, I think the issue is strictly an oversight in software implementation.

We haven't yet tried to use the workouts on iPad of iPhones, but that may be a temporary way that we can "sync up" till Apple fixes the TV problem. Meaning, simultaneously start the same workouts on the Apple TV and have your partner start on their iPad or iPhone. Then both of you can have your watches log the activity and monitor your heart rate and other metrics during the routine.

It would be 1000x better to have both users' tracking information presented on the AppleTV during the routine.

Pretty sure that Apple is trying to coerce us into buying more devices, including multiple Apple TVs for each family member maybe. This was an implementation or marketing decision, not a hardware limitation. You can tell because every phone and iPad and remote can pair with the Apple TV to control it, but they limit you to just one watch pairing.

Furthermore, if you have an iPad that your family shares, you'll be sad to find that it can only pair with one watch as well. Worse, one specific watch OR no watch depending on who setup the iPad. We discovered this when I had the idea that one of us would pair one watch with the Apple TV, the other would pair with the family iPad, and then we'd start the same routines at the same time. That's a no go if the Apple ID isn't the same as either watch. Doesn't work at all. Pointless. Unless someone knows how to switch users on an iPad??

The worst part of all of this is that we fell for the marketing. We subscribed to the family plan to get Apple TV+ and Apple Fitness. The irony.

So, yeah. Right there with ya. Checking in regularly hoping they'll "fix" it, but I've my doubts.

All I. All I’ve tried most of the workouts after a week and love the content and the ability to log the activity. That being said my wife wanted to do it with me and was disappointed that it only let us connect one watch to it at a time.

the Pokémon gadgets Michael was referring to sounded like they were being connected to the iPhone and not the AppleTV. My reference to limitations before was talking the Bluetooth on the Apple TV itself. This may have a limitation to how many devices can be connected by BT at once. But if it has the capability than it’s just a software problem to figure out how to let two watches connect and also update two different accounts at the same time during the workout, which may be complicated but also very doable.

like I said, I have been loving the service and really hope they add this feature so my wife and I can enjoy it together.

Our family has cancelled our apple fitness subscription due to the fact that we cannot use apple fitness or track our progress in the same apple fitness session. It has been over three months since apple fitness was released without this issue being addressed. I have followed this forum closely because I was hoping apple would take this request seriously. There have been many posts on the issue but no communication on a resolution has been provided.

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-use forum for suggestions or feedback. You should definitely let them know your thoughts, though, on the feedback page:

Last I checked, they hadn't put a dedicated section for Apple Fitness+. I'd put it either in the Watch section or the Apple TV section.

Just signed up for the Apple One premium account so the family could use this, and so my wife and I could exercise together. Landed here as a result because we could not figure out how to get both of our watches syncing. At $30 per month, it's a big premium and the only thing that makes it enticing is that it supports up to 5 family members. NOT being able to sync up and track at the same time for the same routines, together, seems like a gross oversight. Surely there is some way to do this.
