iPhone 12 Pro Max still has green tint screen after updating to iOS 14.3

I‘ve been told by that Apple has been aware of the issue and will roll out a fix for it.

However, I updated my iPhone 12 Pro Max right after iOS 14.3 was released. But the green tint issue still exists; pixels seem to glow green instead of going to completely dark in low-light environment. Is this a hardware issue that Apple cannot fix? Or Apple prefers to recall all the devices a year later.

Green tint appears on my device with below settings:

  • Cold winter: lower than 0 degree celsius when I'm jogging outside my house.
  • Dark mode.
  • Adaptive display.
  • Low brightness: around zero brightness.

Look forward to Apple's reply on this.

Guys I actually tried something that worked out for me. I’ve had the green tint since day one and it was very annoying, specially at night time while watching videos. My green tint was horrible, like as bad as it could get.

I simply tried turning off True Tone & night shift and, problem was solved. I don’t know which one of both options fixed it because I turned both off, and don’t even want to risk turning any of the back on, but it immediately corrected the green tint and it has been days and no sign of it.

And when I say my case was a bad one, believe me. I had read all the forums looking for a solution, all the comments on videos to see if some one had a fix and nothing.

I don’t know if this will be a solution to everyone because I don’t think it could be such a simple fix and no one say anything about it, because I have not read of anyone propose this as a solution, but it was for me.

ust wanted to update on what got it fixed for me and hopefully this will help some of you guys out.

Guys, I'm going to have to follow up with some not so good news...

After further looking into this, other - very few - users are reporting that it remains. That's not so bad, until we take a look at the people who say it's been fixed, including myself.

What it looks like Apple is doing, is covering the green tint up - quite literally. There are ways surfacing on how to really show the tinting on 14.5 beta 2 through the white point settings, etc.

I personally believe - now - that Apple is just trying to cover it up to calm people down. The only way we'll be able to tell is if they either publicly announce it OR claim that it's fixed in a future software update when it wasn't really. In the meantime, I've found two YouTubers who talk about the green tint issue: Zollotech and IceCool Tech.

I'm sorry I spoke too soon on the issue. I'll update if I have any further findings (and I'll solidify information before posting, for sure).

I knew it. They would just cover up the display defect by improving how it looks or by changing the color of the tint.

They should probably do a recall or at least replace the screens of those iphones having the issue.

Just like what Huawei did.

Other OnePlus users also had this display issue. OnePlus released software fix, but accdg to users, the issue was only improved and became less noticeable

I don `t believe! I have tried everything and the only thing that makes it disappear just a little is turning off auto brightness in accessibility. I have tried everything and the green tint is still there. After comparing a new iPhone 12 days of use with one that has been used for for 3 months aprox, it makes me think that it is a hardware problem.

OLED displays turn on each individual pixel when needed.... Blacks must stay black because they are not turned on..... I’ve now replaced 5 iPhone 12 Pros and now will be replacing this iPhone 12 Pro Max. All garbage!!!! Should have kept my 11 pro max

fastest way to notice if your screen is ****** is to reset phone in dark room! You should ONLY see the apple logo. Look closely to see if your black background stays black or if it flickers green before boot up

very disappointed with apple quality this year and I’m the guy that replaces each and every year !!!!

Exactly. We paid more than a grand for exciting and amazing brilliant handset with one of the crispiest and finest display. Not for some absurd green plagued display. I detest it, it only happens when there’s other pixels( colored ) are on. If you take a PITCH black wallpaper and view in your gallery it will be true black, but the minute a notification or any pop up or color comes up it’s grays out, black isn’t black anymore… also a point of notice, in photos application when you view a pic taken in night mode in pitch dark environment you can see the borders pixels. Like when you see a pixels of display under a microscope. And it should black the borders, but sadly it isn’t :((.

14.5 did improve it. But isn’t fixed completely.
