Apple Pay Touch ID not working when I try and pay on a website. The Touch ID fingerprint icon flashes but the transaction does not proceed. No error message just stays on the Apple Pay prompt screen.
Apple Pay setup in wallet OK on both MacBook M1 and iPhone.
Touch ID otherwise works fine on MacBook to login to Mac, websites etc..
Apple Pay works fine on my iPhone.
Have deleted cards on MacBook and re-added. Any other ideas?

Friends, I fixed my problem with Apple Pay on my MacBook with Apple Silicone M1 next way.
I put regional settings for Safari to English (it prompt to reload Safari, press yes), and this fixed my problem.

Have you tried updating to the latest macOS version?
may be related, I noticed that fingerprint sensor is flakey when using non MacBook charger......
I tried this solution but no luck - problems still there.
Apple Pay is not working in Safari on MacBook Air 2020 M1, but are working on other devices (iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch) with no issue.
Any other solution for this?
After much searching the web I found the solution so sharing for others.
Go to Software Update in preferences then Advanced...
Uncheck and check again Install system data files and security updates
I then did a restart and the Touch ID started working again when using Apple Pay.
